Choosing what to be notified about

The two columns, and why turning one off does not turn off the other.

Settings → Notifications lists each kind of notification with two separate switches: In-app and Push. They are independent on purpose: - In-app is the bell inside Orrery. - Push is a notification on your device when Orrery is not open. So you can have the bell without your phone buzzing, or a push for messages while keeping the bell quiet for everything else. Turning the bell off for something does not switch off its push. Push needs to be turned on once for the device and browser you are using — see the article on push notifications. Notifications are also affected by two other things: muting a conversation silences its notifications, and a blocked person cannot generate one at all.
Each category has two independent switches: one for the bell inside Orrery, one for your phone.

  • If you can sign in: open Orrery, then choose Help & Support and press Contact support. Your request goes to the Support Center, where you can read the reply and follow it up.

  • If you cannot sign in: email [email protected]. A person reads it. Please describe what happens and what you were trying to do — and never include your password: nobody at Orrery will ever ask you for it.
