Leave-by reminders

For an event with a real place, Orrery can tell you when to leave, allowing for traffic. Set it up in Settings → Connected → Leave-by & places: save the places you travel from (home, work), choose how you usually travel and how much buffer you want. You can override any of this for a single event. Estimates say where they came from — for instance "24 min drive with current traffic · 10 min buffer · From Home" — so you can judge them. Where Orrery cannot get a traffic estimate it says the number is rough rather than pretending. About your location. Using your current location as the starting point is a choice you make; it is off unless you turn it on. Orrery keeps one rough position, accurate to about a kilometre, and deletes it after twelve hours. There is no history of where you have been, and Orrery only reads your location when you have already allowed it and the app is open — it never asks on its own. The web cannot wake an app in the background, so reminders arrive while Orrery can reach you rather than at a guaranteed moment.
