Comets

A Comet is something temporary you send. It enters your friends' Orrery, travels around the outside of the map for its life, then drifts away. How long they last: - A Comet sent to friends and followers lasts one week from when you posted it. Looking at it changes nothing. - A Comet sent to one person lasts seven days from when they first open it, and no more than fourteen days from when you sent it — whichever comes first. If they never open it, it ends at the fourteen-day mark. When a Comet ends, it stops being shown at once and its picture or video is then deleted from storage. It cannot be recovered, by you or by anyone else. (A file that another Comet of yours is still using is kept until that one ends too.) What is kept. For a Comet sent directly to one person, Orrery keeps a small note that the two of you were in touch on that date — no picture, no caption, nothing that could rebuild it. It is used only for your own private relationship history, and it is never shown to anybody else. Deleting your own Comet before it expires removes that too. You can see who has opened your own Comet. Nobody else can see that list. A Comet is not the same as a post. Posts stay until you remove them.
